If you are not a citizen of the Russian Federation or of a select number of the countries of the former USSR, you are required to obtain the visa. There are several types of visas, the most popular of which are tourist and business.
Unless you have specific circumstances requiring otherwise, we suggest entering Russia on a standard tourist visa. Such visas are generally good for up to 30 days and one (standard) or two (by request) entries within that period. Business visas offer longer stays and more flexibility (multiple entries), but are consequently more expensive and can entail complex registration procedures.
